Boy (Man)

Sooooo cute. Actul relationship material. A composer. Black hair, light green eyes. Smaaaaaaaaaaart. Attractive. Charming. 40. Well put together. Independent. An artist. And thought that I was handsome and intelligent. He asked for a second date. He used the word "date". I like him. I'm blowing shit out of all proportion, as usual.

One Job of Mine

My feeling is, as an artistic director, you make sure the vision and mandate of the company are intact, and then you let the designers and the performers and the director work their magic.  that's why they do what they do....that's why the artistic director is *not* the anything else.

About a Boy

Mattie: Vancouver! says: (11:03:35 AM)
should I invite him to a movie in the "you hug well" e-mail?
x says: (11:17:24 AM)
when was the date?
x says: (11:17:39 AM)
i'd say no
x says: (11:17:42 AM)
take it easy
x says: (11:17:54 AM)
see how he responds to a pretty obvious "i like you" email
Mattie: Vancouver! says: (11:18:05 AM)
ah.
Mattie: Vancouver! says: (11:18:08 AM)
that's true....
Mattie: Vancouver! says: (11:21:02 AM)
okay.  I was just like you're good, I hope you feel better (he's sick) and we'll talk soon.
x says: (11:21:22 AM)
sounds grand
Mattie: Vancouver! says: (11:21:57 AM)
mrrgh.
x says: (11:22:33 AM)
mrrgh?
Mattie: Vancouver! says: (11:23:02 AM)
I have much more than I say at any one time.
x says: (11:23:45 AM)
isn't that always the way?
Mattie: Vancouver! says: (11:23:53 AM)
like what I really want to say is let's go see a movie.  you're really cute.  the skin on your face felt nice against my lips.  you're terribly beautiful and effusive and that's exciting to me.  that you're not "too cool"
x says: (11:24:35 AM)
save that and give it to him after date #3
x says: (11:24:40 AM)
he'd like that in time, i suspect
x says: (11:24:53 AM)
it's a bit on the too much side now
x says: (11:25:08 AM)
mainly because it's only a part of you
x says: (11:25:20 AM)
the part of you, mattie, capable of tremendous feeling and expression
x says: (11:25:38 AM)
but it doesn't leave room for him to know the you, mattie, capable of tremendous independence and personal drive
x says: (11:25:40 AM)
ya know?
x says: (11:25:51 AM)
so someone only seeing a part could get needlessly spooked
Mattie: Vancouver! says: (11:25:56 AM)
aha.
x says: (11:25:56 AM)
but the whole is so damn good
Mattie: Vancouver! says: (11:26:05 AM)
you're lovely.
x says: (11:26:11 AM)
i adore you
x says: (11:26:34 AM)
you're a great combination of give 'em all you've got and self-determined power
Mattie: Vancouver! says: (11:28:22 AM)
wow, thanks!
x says: (11:28:56 AM)
i speak 'em as i see 'em

A Good Life

So, The Stronger Variations closed, and it was one of the best shows I've ever been in. An extremely satisfying process, and I was in a room with a group of established artists who were very generous and amazing, and I got to work with a dancer/actor who I greatly admire, and we've become a kind of mutual appreciation society, and I want to work with her, and she with me. Yay!

I spent the last two weeks in Toronto Christmas shopping, hanging my Christmas tree, cleaning, sitting by the fireplace and just generally enjoying my time. Going to Dessert Trends as much as humanly possible. I moved across the country on New Year's Eve, started class on New Year's Day, and started rehearsal the day after that. I love it. I love this. I love that I get paid to do exactly what I love.

Now I need to start generating prose for a few grant apps, doing the final reports for the grants that we got this year, and reading reading reading. As hard as this all can be, I'm doing well. It looks like I am going to be working almost continually until the winter of 2008. Fantastic.

How are you?
