Work, you stupid body!
My foot has been bothering me for a while, and today, it just got really really bad. It had been swollen before, but today it basically blew up and stopped working, and then, I rehearsed for another two hours. Now, I can hardly walk on the thing. I have to say, I'm terrified. I have a physio appointment tomorrow, to which I think I'm going to take the bus, I think. I limped home today. I'm tired of limping. I'm just terrified that the physiotherapist is going to tell me - oh my god, what have you been doing, you can't dance on this, you need to pull out of the show. The fact that I moved across the bloody continent really makes something like that worse news than if it was a Toronto company. It would be tragic in any event, but there you have it. I want my stupid body to stop misbehaving because I'm doing things it's not used to. Suck it up, and just shut up, and let me dance! I just want to dance. And the physiotherapist is actually Barbara's son, so that's good. And it's going to be expensive I think, so that's bad. But at least he knows what's involved in a Kokoro rehearsal.
Guys, pray for me, or send your positive vibes my way. Please please please don't let me be irreparable.

Sorry to hear of your pain. Sending out the positive vibes to you. I don't think you are irreparable. It's the kind of thing that frequently happens to dancers. I doubt they'd make you pull out of the show. You may just need some time off to heal, otherwise you could do irreparable damage. Be gentle with yourself.
The 7.53am update is that I am in so much pain that I can't sleep or walk. I didn't sleep at all. My physio appointment is at 9.20, so I'm going to start getting ready now. For today, I don't know how I would manage the three flights of stairs up to the studio, let alone the actual dancing. As it stands, I think I might just be in the way if I am to rehearse today.
This is horrific.
This is horrific.
I hope you made it to your appointment ok. So sorry to hear of the terrible pain you are in. Heal soon and get some rest.
11.00am update - the physio was good. He's taped my foot and it feels a little better. I'm to go to the doctor today and get them to order an X-ray - he wants to rule out fracture. One of the other possibilities he suggested was that it was infected, which oddly, would be the best case scenario, because I could take some antibiotics and it would clear right up. Other than that, it might be ligaments or something, which would just require rest. Cross your fingers for me.
I'm happy to see that you feel better. I hope someone is available to help you with stuff while your mobility is reduced. Fingers and toes crossed for you! :-)
Well, I had an x-ray, and the results should be back by Monday. I saw the pictures, and there were no visible fractures, so that's good. Hopefully, there will be no hairline fractures either. Already, it feels a lot better from the physio work today. I'm going to ice the thing all weekend, rest like mad (it's a good excuse to read the Merton letters to completion). So, it's to wait to Monday, just to make sure everything is okay. Whew. Man, that was scary. And I'm not a dancer, so I'm not used to this type of crap.
Luigi, your vibes helped! Now just keep sending them until the results get in on Monday, and we'll be set.
P.S. I got the Resto job.
